Humans are creatures of time. Questions related to time are asked several times throughout any given day. People on the street ask: “What time do you have? ; Friends ask: “What time are we hanging out?”; Children ask: “Is it time to go yet?”; Wives ask – “What time will you be home?” Husbands ask: “What time will dinner be ready?”

Sometimes we can become so concerned about time that we forget that one day time will end and we will step into eternity.

Consider the rich man in Jesus’ parable:

16 And he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully, 17 and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ 18 And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.’ 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ 21 So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”

He had become so occupied with time that he had not factored eternity into his life equation. He reasoned that he had many years to live – he was wrong – dead wrong!

As we journey through life let us enjoy time, but let us also remember –eternity is right around the corner.
